Hair removal is the most common non-invasive aesthetic procedure, and a growing share of hair removal patients are men who are looking for more permanent solutions to unwanted body hair. Hair removal sometimes can’t be applied for all parts of the body. In most of the cases, different people will react differently depending on the hair removal options they used. Commonly people usually remove hair at the facial area, but there are other cases some people wanted their hair to be removed from other body parts, including legs and underarms.
Waxing – Hair Removal option
Waxing is one of the various hair removal options that can be used, even at home. This form of hair removal needs heating wax and applying strips to the area. Waxing works by applying a layer of cold or hot wax or a sugar-based mixture directly on the area where hair is to be removed. After allowing it to harden it is very quickly peeled away from the skin, in the opposite direction of the hair growth and then, the body hair is pulled free from that area. There are some disadvantages of using waxing such as uneven of hair removal and extra time needed. Waxing sometimes can be painful and it is quite costly for maintenance. Waxing can be very time consuming if you have a large area on your body that you would like to have hair removed from.
Laser Hair Removal
In contrast, hair Removal is designed to remove unwanted hair from the body by directing lasers at the follicles to prevent any new growth. It has now become popular because it can remove hair permanently, as opposed to waxing or shaving which only remove unsightly hair temporarily. Generally hair removal is much faster with a laser as the laser is pulsed about once per second across the surface of the skin. Each pulse of laser light could disable a large number of hair follicles. Technically, laser hair removal is most successful when the hair is in its anagen phase, the phase when a hair follicle is its active growth). Commonly, this phase lasts several years which is 85% of our hair is in that phase at any given time.
Electrolysis Hair Removal
Another way of hair removal is by using electrolysis method. Electrolysis is permanent, yet it takes time for you to see the actual effect. It is usually applied at only at small areas such as upper lip, eyebrows and underarms. Electrolysis is more effective than ever before as you can rest assured that your treatment will take place in the most comfortable, private environment possible. Nowdays, electrolysis is an option that is still popular among people, since it does not require repeated or successive treatments. However, in contrast, laser hair removal has the advantage of being less expensive compare using electrolysis method.
In general, treatment period varies between 5 minutes for an upper lip or bikini line or 45 minutes for the back or legs. Treatment cost varies with the size of the area treated. Large areas, such as the entire back, or the entire legs will end up with extra pennies. Skin irritation and redness are the most common side effects of hair removal. In addition, shaving can cause skin cuts and may lead to ingrown hairs. Skin irritations can be further reduced from sugaring hair removal because the sugar mixture wraps around the hairs and pulls them out by the roots leaving no stubble.
